ABD’nin New Haven şehrinde yer alan eski Pirelli binası, Hilton tarafından 165 odalı bir butik otele dönüştürülüyor. Otel, 2022’nin ilk çeyreğinde “ABD’nin ilk net sıfır karbon oteli” olarak hizmet vermeye başlayacak.


Hotel Marcel ismiyle hizmet vermeye başlayacak olan otelin tüm tesisleri, yerinde üretilen enerjiyle çalışan fosil yakıtlardan bağımsız olarak kullanılacak. Bu bağımsız sürdürülebilirlik, otelin çatısında ve otoparkında aydınlatma, ısıtma, soğutma ve elektrikli araç şarj istasyonları için kullanılan elektriğin %100’ünü sağlayacak güneş panelleri aracılığıyla sağlanacak. Hotel Marcel ayrıca geri dönüştürülmüş yerel inşaat malzemeleri, LEED Platin Sertifikası, üç camlı pencereler, VRF hava kaynaklı ısı pompaları ve ısı yalıtım teknolojisini kullanarak Amerika Birleşik Devletleri’ndeki ilk Pasif Ev sertifikalı otel olacak.


Otelin, sürdürülebilirlik alanında bir öncü olacağı ifade edildi.
