Gambiya kapsayıcı, dayanıklı ve rekabetçi tarım için 40 milyon dolar sağladı

Dünya Bankası Kurulu, Gambiya’daki küçük ölçekli çiftçilere ve tarım işletmelerine özel olarak odaklanan kapsayıcı, esnek ve rekabetçi tarımsal değer zincirlerinin geliştirilmesini teşvik etmek için Uluslararası Kalkınma Birliği’nden (IDA) 40 milyon $’ı onayladı. Gambiya Kapsayıcı ve Esnek Tarımsal Değer Zinciri Geliştirme Projesi (GIRAV), üretim kapasitesini güçlendirmeyi amaçlayan yumuşak ve güçlü yatırımların bir kombinasyonu yoluyla ülkede güçlü büyüme potansiyeline sahip kilit öncelikli tarımsal değer zincirlerinin geliştirilmesini teşvik edecek ve tamamlayıcı özel sektör için fırsatlar yaratacak.


Dünya Bankası’nın Gambiya Mukim Temsilcisi Feyi Boroffice, “Gambiya kırılganlıktan ancak tarım gibi kilit ekonomik sektörlerde kalkınma üzerindeki kısıtlamaları ele alarak geçebilir. Proje, tarımsal ticaret ortamının etkinleştirilmesine yatırım yaparak ve özel yatırımları özel bir eşleştirme hibe mekanizması aracılığıyla harekete geçirerek hükümetin ticari tarımı artırma çabalarını destekleyecek” dedi. Proje, tarım ticareti geliştirme için elverişli bir ortamın olmaması, düşük üretkenlik, pazarlara zayıf erişim ve kalite, sıhhi ve bitki sağlığı kontrol sistemlerinin eksikliği dahil olmak üzere Gambiya’da tarım ve tarım ticaretinin geliştirilmesine yönelik önemli zorlukları ele alıyor.
